The Company

Created in 2002, DELIT DE FACADE was born from the desire to revive Alain Duverne’s puppets in an urban space— the windows of a real house. This passionate team is well known for the quality of its productions and its original artistic approach: puppet shows in a building’s façade.

Directed by Clara and Romain Duverne, the company combines puppet makers, sound designers and puppeteers. New writers and directors are invited to join the company for each new production. The first two shows (Delit de Façade, written and directed by Jean Michel Moutte, and Autrement dit, co-written and directed by Alain Sachs) were major successes in festivals throughout France and internationally. With more than 100 performances in six different countries, Delit de Façade was translated into three languages (English, Flemish, Slovenian), involving close collaborations with host countries. The company currently consists of twenty members.

DELIT DE FACADE is a street theatre company in the way we occupy public space— audiences watch our shows from the street. Our work is a meeting point between public and private space. The starting point of our stories is everyday life, urban reality, a neighbour’s window. Specific, strange, and surprising characters are central to our work. A close observation of reality leads us into poetic and dreamlike worlds. Puppetry is the medium for our artistic approach.
